Description Description
Whitaker by Design, located in Savannah's Design district, blends historic charm with chic urban decor. The John Lynch Building, originally built in 1870, stands prominently at the corner of Whitaker and Taylor streets. This beautiful two-story, 4 bedrooms and 2 bathroom Townhome, on the top 2 floors of this multi-use building, has just been newly re-designed and renovated with modern amenities.

Enter the two-story apartment from the main entrance on Whitaker Street, right next to Custard Boutique. Open the door that leads to a beautiful stairway that ascends to the parlor level apartment. The grand living area is warm and inviting with tall french windows, hardwood floors, and high ceilings that are enhanced by the neutral décor with jewel-toned accents. The living room furnishings include a plush sectional sofa and a large flat-screen TV. Step into the dining room for a beautiful table that seats up to 6. There is access to the outdoor courtyard from the dining area, enjoy the breeze from the private second-floor porch. Just off the dining is an all-new, fully equipped kitchen with stainless appliances and a full bathroom with a walk-in shower as well as a laundry room with full-size washer and dryer.

The main level is home to two guest bedrooms, each beautifully decorated. The first bedroom has a King size bed with a TV, and the second has a Queen-size bed and a TV. Upstairs, are the remaining 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a sitting room. Both bedrooms include king-size beds and flat-screen TVs. The sitting room is furnished with a sleeper sofa as a flexible space for guests and also includes a TV. The full bathroom on this floor has a beautiful antique claw-foot tub with a shower.

The outdoor areas include a balcony with bistro dining for two, perfect for your morning coffee, and a downstairs fenced-in courtyard where guests can enjoy the sounds of Savannah from the privacy of your private courtyard with an outdoor sofa and chairs for relaxing under the stars. Guests will take home a beautiful souvenir tote bag printed with the Whitaker by Design building on it, that has exclusive savings coupons for some local shops.

Located within walking distance to some of Savannah's favorite restaurants and historic homes. Enjoy boutique shopping in this historic neighborhood and stroll through the nearby squares and discover unique treasures with every step. Whitaker by Design is just to the east side of Monterey Square. This square's main attraction is the Mercer-Williams House, originally built in 1860. The home was made famous in the 1994 book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" which was later turned into a movie, is based on real-life events and people who lived in the Mercer Williams House. Just across the square sits Congregation Mickve Israel. The Synagogue was erected in the 1870s and is home to the third-oldest Jewish congregation in America. Both Mercer-Williams House and Mickie Israel offer tours of these beautifully restored buildings.

Guests will also be located only a short 20-25 minute drive to Tybee Island, Savannah's beach. Come out for a day trip to enjoy the beach, fishing, visiting Ft. Pulaski, or climbing Georgia's oldest and tallest lighthouse.

Great location, tons of space!

This is a great location. Very close to Forsyth Park and the beautiful historic district. It’s an easy walk to River St or very short drive. The rental has 4 large bedrooms and plenty of room to spread out. It was very clean and easy to access. We recommend getting parking passes from the city during your stay to avoid feeding meters routinely.

Beautiful historic home in a great location
We had a fantastic stay with a group of adults and older teens. We absolutely loved the house and had plenty of room to spread out. It is decorated beautifully and is very functional. The kitchen was well stocked and the outdoor space was really nice. Everywhere we wanted to go was walkable through gorgeous neighborhoods. The ONLY downside is that the two flights of stairs are a bit precarious because they are steep and curve. I would not recommend this house for anyone with small kids or people who are not sturdy on their feet because that could make coming and going difficult. Otherwise a WONDERFUL place to enjoy Savannah!

Historical Charm
This house was amazing, lots of historical charm! Lots of small touches through the property. All of the bedrooms had super comfortable mattresses. The living room provided plenty of seating and the couch was so inviting after a long day of walking around Savannah. The only downfall was the street noise. I did think that since we were staying during the weekdays it wouldn’t be so bad, I was incorrect. There was constant street noise. This was resolved by placing the oscillating fan directly by the window, it did drown out a lot of the noise. Our elderly parents (79 and 80) were with us. They were able to navigate the stairs to the first floor with no problem however the stairs to the top floor are steep. We utilized the free trolley service (stop very close to property) however it is not reliable. The information said it ran every 10 minutes, that is incorrect, we waited about 30 minutes for the trolley and it never came. Great service if you are able to utilize. Get a Visitor Pass for parking. This will allow you to park anywhere no matter the time limit for up to two days. The parking around the property is only for two hours. We purchased ours from the Bay Street Parking deck. Loved the property and it’s historic charm, that’s what we were looking for when searching for a place to stay.
