Visit Fort Pulaski
Fort Pulaski National Monument is the ideal spot to take your dog for a day of adventure! Located west of Tybee on Cockspur Island, dogs are welcome on the park ground as well as within the historic fort! There are numerous hiking trails all over Cockspur Island, which are great for sightseeing and observing local wildlife with your pooch. Are you a BARK Ranger? The acronym is an easy way to remember how to be safe when visiting the fort with your dog. It stands for:
- Bag your pet’s waste.
- Always wear a leash.
- Respect wildlife.
- Know where you can go.
Take a Walk Around Tybee
Tybee Island is only three (3) miles long so why not take a stroll around the marshes, near the waterfront, and around the main area of Tybee while enjoying the beautiful Georgia weather?
Tybee Island's Dog Parks
The first is located at the intersection of Van Horne and Fort Streets, between the Police Station. The second is in River’s End Campground and RV Park. For practical reasons, the dog parks are only open from dawn till dusk. Be sure to follow the posted Tybee Dog Park Rules.
Water Adventures
Both North Island Kayak Rental and East Coast Paddleboarding are pet-friendly companies and are happy for you to bring along your four-legged friend on any of your water adventures. You can rent a kayak, jet ski, pontoon boat, etc., and tour the area or even visit Little Tybee Island.
Take Them to Dinner
Several restaurants on Tybee offer outdoor dog-friendly seating so you can enjoy your dinner with your pet by your side. Here are a few of our favorite pet-friendly restaurants: The Crab Shack, CoCo’s Sunset Grille, AJ’s Dockside, Fannies on the Beach, and Sting Rays.
Local Tybee Island Parades
They will love to watch all the sights and sounds and will adore the attention. Dogs are also welcome at most outdoor events happening on Tybee.
Tybee Island Dog Rules
While we want your family pet to have the best vacation possible, it is important to remember that there are a few Tybee Island dog rules.
- Your dog must remain on a leash when walking on residential streets, in parks, and near business areas
- Pick up after your pet and dispose of its gifts properly
- Constant dog barking that disturbs the neighbors will receive a noise ordinance fine if reported
