Spring Break on Tybee Time

Spring Break on Tybee Time

Spring Break on Tybee Island is one of the best times of the year to visit! Our little island starts to come alive, out of hibernation from the chilly winter. Local shops and restaurants re-open their doors for all of the travelers that make their way to Tybee. It offers our guests one of the best times to truly vacation like a local before the jam-packed summer months on the beach. One way to do just this is by tapping into what we like to call “Tybee Time”.

A quiet, slow-paced time when locals and lucky visitors recharge their batteries, appreciate peaceful island life, and enjoy fewer people sharing the island. It lets you take part in the simple pleasures in life. A chance to enjoy family, spend time with friends, have a slumber party with the kids, vacation with a pet, or get away by yourself! Therefore, you don’t want to miss out on a Tybee Time experience this Spring Break!

South Beach Spring Break

Tybee’s South Beach is one of the most happening spots on the entire island. During the peak season, it can be a bit overwhelming as it’s the most popular location for visitors. However, if you catch it at the right time, this area of the beach can provide a wonderful experience for all! Luckily, in the springtime, you’ll only get a glimpse into the activity starting to pick up. Here, visitors will have access to the Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion, which is a great fishing spot if you have your license and an iconic island landmark. With fantastic shops, restaurants, and nightlife spots scattered around, there’s bound to be something for everyone! Also, the central location makes it perfect for exploring everything the island has to offer.

Dinner and A Show!

Fresh, local seafood is served year-round on Tybee Island, and many of the area’s restaurants have outdoor seating for enjoying the lovely spring weather! If it’s your first time traveling to the Lowcountry, then you obviously have to try some Lowcountry Boil! How can you go wrong with a savory feast of shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn piled high to share with friends and family? Many of the local seafood spots serve a variation of this southern classic, but The Crab Shack does it justice with the addition of crab. You’ll love sitting on the dock overlooking the marsh as the sun goes down over the horizon! Afterward, head to the Tybee Post Theater for some great live music or maybe even a play.

Step Back Into History

Tybee Island is home to a rich history worthy of exploration just the same as Savannah! Visit the Tybee Island Light Station, which happens to be the oldest and tallest lighthouse in the state of Georgia! Dating back to 1736 and standing 145 feet tall, the lighthouse is one of the best preserved in the nation with the lightkeeper’s cottages on the grounds. It’s actually one of only seven colonial-era lighthouses that are still standing! Travel only a few miles down the road to Cockspur Island, and you can step back in time at Fort Pulaski National Monument! With any luck, you’ll be able to catch one of their rifle and cannon demonstrations within the fort.
