Planning a Pet Friendly Tybee Island Vacation

Tybee Island is a wonderful place for you and your family pet to vacation. There are so many activities that you can enjoy together. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the beaches of Tybee Island, however, there are still many areas on Tybee where they are welcome to join you as you explore and enjoy your Tybee adventure. If you are looking for the perfect place to stay with your pet, contact one of our reservation specialists to inquire about the 100+ pet-friendly properties we have available.

Water Adventures

Both North Island Kayak Rental and East Coast Paddleboarding are pet-friendly companies and are happy for you to bring along your four-legged friend on any of your water adventures. You can rent a kayak, jet ski, pontoon boat, etc. and tour the area or even visit Little Tybee Island.

Visit Fort Pulaski

Fort Pulaski National Monument is located west of Tybee on Highway 80. Dogs are welcome in the fort as well as on the historical grounds. There are numerous hiking trails throughout the grounds and a beach along the back side of the island which are perfect for sightseeing, observing the local wildlife and enjoying some beach time with your pooch.

Take a Walk Around Tybee

Tybee Island is only three (3) miles long so why not take a stroll around the marshes, near the waterfront and around the main area of Tybee while enjoying the beautiful Georgia weather.

Tybee Island’s Dog Parks

The first is located at the intersection of Van Horne and Fort Streets, between the Police Station. The second is in River’s End Campground and RV Park. For practical reasons, the dog parks are only open from dawn till dusk. Be sure to follow the posted Tybee Dog Park Rules.

Take a Dolphin Tour

Captain Mike’s Dolphin Tours is happy to have your four-legged friend with you on the boat as you tour the coast of Tybee Island. For this activity, please make sure your dog is comfortable and well-behaved in a boat and on the water.

Take Them to Dinner

Several restaurants on Tybee offer outdoor dog-friendly seating so you can enjoy your dinner with your pet by your side. Here are a few of our favorite pet-friendly restaurants: The Crab Shack, CoCo’s Sunset Grille, AJ’s Dockside, Fannies on the Beach and Sting Rays.
