The calmer waters off the beach and generally warmer water year-round mean there is great fishing to be had. Head to one of Tybee’s several public fishing piers for your adventure! Cast your line from the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion, Back River Fishing Pier, and Lazaretto Boat Ramp and Fishing Pier. Each of these locations offer chances to catch some inshore marine life, like red drum, black drum, mackerels, flounders, trout, and more!

An Adventure to Little Tybee

Little Tybee is located to the south, just across Tybee’s Back River. Despite being able to see it from Back River Beach, guests are often unaware of it and rarely take the trek. Hop on a boat, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard to make the voyage to the untouched retreat! Check out North Island Surf and Kayak for your kayak and paddleboard rental needs. You can launch right from their dock on the Lazaretto Creek and head to the uninhabited island. They even offer guided tours and can help with camping on the island! Kayaking is the ideal way to spot all of the wildlife along the marshes, including dolphins, sea otters, osprey, and a variety of wading and migratory birds.
