September marks one of the best times to visit Tybee Island, and one of the reasons is because of Labor Day activities all around! Whether it’s the live music at the Tybee Island Pier and Pavillion or simply a relaxing day on the beach, you’re sure to have a good time. September is perfect for enjoying the last bit of summertime while the weather is just right for outdoor activities. Labor Day Beach Bash
Head down to the iconic Tybee Island Pier and Pavillion for some fun live music from favorites The Swingin’ Medallions! They’re a band from Greenville, South Carolina that formed in the 1960s and put out big hits like “Double Shot (of My Baby’s Love)”. Often associated with beach music, you’ll love getting the chance to see them right on sandy Tybee Island beaches! The concert is on Sunday, September 4th, and is free for everyone! While there are also typically fireworks, this year there will be no fireworks on Labor Day.
Fun In the Sun
With the long weekend, enjoy an extra-long day at the beach! If you want to be close to all of the action near the pier, spend the day on Tybee’s South Beach. One of the busier sections of beach on our island, South Beach is near many local restaurants, bars, and shops. Check out Rock House or Fannies, which are both food and drink staples on the island. If you want to be in the most happening area on Tybee, this is it!

With the weather perfect for outdoor activities, Labor Day may offer you the ideal opportunity to slow down and enjoy nature! So, grab and bike and explore the island. Tybee Island is basically one huge 3-mile long bike path. You can get anywhere on the island on a bike and there are bike paths conveniently marked “Bike Route”.
